We interviewed actress Abigail Breslin at The Palm restaurant in Manhattan recently. She was there to introduce the new children's menu now being offered by the restaurant. She is also starring in the new movie "No Reservations" with Catherine Zeta Jones.
Do you have any friends that are in the acting business?
Not really because I don't do a lot of movies that have a lot of kids in them so I don't meet a lot of kids who are in movies. My brother [Spencer] acts, but I don't have a lot of friends who are in acting.
How was it working with Steve Carell in "Little Miss Sunshine?"
He is really nice. He was really a lot of fun to work with.
How do you go to school?
I am home schooled, and I have a tutor on movies. My mom teaches me when I am at home.
Do any other actors inspire you?
My brother started acting before I did. So I guess I started after he did.
Who did you have the most fun working with?
I just did a movie that had a dog in it ["Chestnut: Hero of Central Park" ], and the dog was pretty fun actually. There was a monkey in it. I know that sounds really weird but the monkey and the dog were fun. The monkey would jump on top of you.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to swim. I like to read. I really like art. I wish I could cook, but I don't cook that much.
What is the next movie you will be shooting?
I just finished a movie up in Toronto. It was an American Girl movie. That was a lot fun.
What is your favorite professional sports team?
I don't really watch a lot of sports, but I guess the Yankees. I don't watch a lot of baseball but my dad does and he likes the Yankees.
Did you like being in a movie with your brother ["Raising Helen"]?
Yes, I did.
Do your parents travel with you when you go to shoot movies?
Well, yes they do. When I go do a movie either my mom or my dad comes with me.
Have you seen all the movies you have been in?
Most of them.
Which one did you not see?
"Keane."
Do you want to be an actress your whole life or do you plan on being something else?
I either want to be an actress or a veterinarian.
